Abstract

Covering an unmentioned “curse” in the Silmarillion, Masson discusses the lore behind the Petty-Dwarves through context, and through implied connections. At their lowest, the limited population of Petty-Dwarves in Nulukkizdin were shunned and exiled by Elvin and Dwarves alike. Masson then follows the journey of Mim, whose tales intertwine with Turin Turambar. Mim recollects the fate of the Petty-Dwarves, and relays it to Turin, passing the history on as a record of their existence.
