Abstract

Author Neil McLeod attempts to reconstruct the hymn addressed to Elbereth (Varda) – who is wife of the chief of the Valar, Manwe. He does so by searching the text of the Lord of the Rings for any text that references Elbereth. By adding these words, mostly of Tolkien’s own writing, he reconstructs the hymn to Elbereth.
