Abstract

Author Helen Kerley collects the descriptions of the shields of the nations and armies of Middle-Earth. Rohan, with their shields of gold, green, and red emblazoned with a horse and a horn. Mordor, with shields of black and yellow, used by the men of the South who fought for Mordor. The shields of Gondor, emblazoned with the white tree, a winged crown, and seven stars. Dol Amroth, simply painted with the silver swan and ship. Finally, Kerley describes the arms of the stewards of Gondor, with only the white rod of their position detailed on shields. There is then a color key, and a page of sketches of what the shields may have looked like.
